Starline Rhythm Boys to Headline Bike Recycle Benefit
In its second year, the Bike Recycle Vermont Benefit Concert proudly welcomes the Starline Rhythm Boys, a local favorite. A trio with a rockabilly bluegrass style, these Vermonters are known for their big sound. Dancers of all ages will move to their driving rhythms. Have a listen at www.starlinerhythmboys.com.
The event, a benefit for our very own Bike Recycle Vermont, will take place at the Shelburne Town Hall and include a great silent auction and international baked good sale. Last year's gathering was a hit, so tell your friends about this great evening for a great cause.
All proceeds go towards BRV's mission of providing refurbished bicycles and job training skills for low-income Vermonters.

Final Weekend for Bike Ferry

This is your last chance! Cyclists and walkers have just three more days to cross the Cut in the Causeway before service ends … well, at least for this year.
The long Labor Day weekend will wrap up another season of demonstration Bike Ferry service. You'll find the ferry running 10am-6pm this Saturday, Sunday and Monday. A donation of $5 is requested for round-trip service.
The ferry will operate in rain but not in severe weather or high-wind conditions. For ferry status, call 652-2453 or 316-6382.
This year's demonstration has seen an average of 460 passengers per day. This consistent demand, along with a couple closures due to high winds, underscores the need for more regular service with a larger boat and wave attenuating docks.
We'd like to thank Gadue's Dry Cleaning and Earl's Cyclery & Fitness for sponsoring portions of this year's Bike Ferry service. Thanks to our other partners: Town of Colchester, Town of South Hero, South Hero Rec Path Committee, and VT Fish & Wildlife.

Come On Down to the Trailside Center
Last month we wrote about our new rental partnership with Bike Recycle Vermont that bolstered our rental fleet, but if you stopped by our Trailside Center recently you may have noticed a few new faces. Manager Kevin Rose and staffers Chris, Leanna, Ryan, and Solvei are ready to greet visitors, share trail knowledge, and get folks out on the path. The center is hopping all summer long!
Did you know that sales bring in 35% of Local Motion’s total income? This revenue (ferry boardings, bike rentals, map ads, bike tours, etc.) is critical to reducing our dependence on unpredictable grant funding. Here are just a few reasons to stop by the Trailside Center:
Fill up and find places to go! Use our air pumps, grab a map, and ask staff about new places to explore.
- Get cool stuff! We have new BPA free water bottles, Trail Finder T-Shirts, recycled bottle opener key chains, and Bicycle Benefits stickers.
- Become a member! Join for the first time, drop off your renewal, or sign up to volunteer – any support is appreciated and will help us build a better community for walkers and bikers!
Hope to see you at the Trailside Center!
